TIF Procedures Performed

Dr. Warren is one of the leading surgeons in the country to perform the TIF procedure for the treatment of GERD.

What is TIF?

TIF is an incisionless* surgical solution for acid reflux.

TIF is an acronym for Transoral Incisionless Fundoplication.

  • The surgery is performed through the mouth.
  • Abdominal incisions are not required unless additional treatments are being included in the procedure, such as repairing a hernia.
  • TIF reconstructs the valve between the esophagus and the stomach to prevent reflux.

*Dr. Warren often performs this procedure in conjunction with minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery to repair a hiatal hernia.

TIF delivers GERD relief

Gastroesophageal reflux occurs when contents in your stomach flow back into your esophagus because the valve between the two stops working properly. Patients diagnosed with gastroesophageal reflux dieasese (GERD) are often treated with medications like like Prilosec® and Nexium®, but these won’t cure reflux. Many people find that they are dependent on taking increased doses multiple times per day to get symptom relief.

Repairing the valve

TIF rebuilds the valve between your esophagus and your stomach, which keeps your stomach acids from flowing the wrong direction.
